PROMISED LAND FOR MOOOI CARPETS

The carpet design is an initial outcome of research involving the use of artificial intelligence to generate stones and stone surfaces. This work, titled ‘Promised Land, ’represents ‘new’ land that mimics natural appearances despite being non-existent. Each carpet consists of more than 350 images. The focus is on originality, creation, and the formation of the earth.    In the artist’s prior works, boulders, as seen in the ‘Beacon of Light,’ are a recurring  theme. Stones symbolize stability, serving as an anchor and being impenetrable. Jesse Visser is investigating whether the mere image of these stones, generated by AI, still embodies these values. Is materiality necessary, or can these values be conveyed solely through visualization?   Promised Land is available in standard size area rugs and a wall to wall pattern.
